Libyan leader Moammar Kaddafi blasted the UN Security Council as a form of "terrorism" in a speech at the Non-Aligned Movement's (NAM) Summit in Sharm al-Sheikh on Wednesday.

Kaddafi said that he does not "trust" the council, which he accused of harming NAM member states.

He told leaders of more than 50 developing states gathered in the Red Sea resort town of Sharm al-Sheikh that he wants to correct the “imbalance” at the security council, demanding a seat for the African Union (AU), which he currently chairs.

NAM states "are the majority at the United Nations. The security council does not represent us, it is monopolized by a few countries that are permanent members," Kaddafi said.

"This represents a danger toward international peace.”

The AU "deserves a permanent seat," he said, also urging Latin America to form its own grouping at the UN and also demand a seat of its own.
